Delight in God’s Creation

Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.
Psalm 111:2 NIV

An accomplished pianist and a skilled tennis player both know that the more they practice, the more enjoyment they get out of their skill. Someone who has studied furniture design can value a fine antique that another person sees as a plain brown chest. A chef can taste and and enjoy flavors the average palate cannot identify.

Have you ever thanked God for the pleasure of an orderly column of numbers in a balanced ledger? Ever noticed the pharmacy shelves and thanked God for all the research and discovery that led to such life-saving medications? Have you picked produce from your own garden and praised God for the delight of harvesting?

Your delight in God’s creation is a gift from Him and an offering of praise back to Him for what He has done. To be thankful for the interest God gives you in creation brings glory to Him and leads to knowing and appreciating Him more.

Great God of all creation, Giver of all good things, thank You for the endless beauty and wisdom in the world around me that speaks of You.
