“Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. . . . But you will not even need to fight. Take your positions; then stand still and watch the Lord’s victory. He is with you.”
2 Chronicles 20:15, 17 NLT
When an army of troubles comes up against you, you have two choices. You can run and hide in fear or you can take courage, standing still and strong in your faith and God’s power, and watch what He does.
That’s what King Jehoshaphat did. When told that three mighty armies were coming to attack him, he, a king, got down on his knees and prayed to God. He recognized the weakness of himself and his kingdom, telling God, “We are powerless against this mighty army that is about to attack us. We do not know what to do, but we are looking to you for help” (v. 12). Knowing God would hear his prayer, he pleaded for guidance—and got it. Filled with faith and courage, he instructed his singers to “walk ahead of the army, singing to the Lord and praising him” (v. 21). The result? The armies attacked and killed each other. All that was left for Jehoshaphat’s people was to pick up the plunder.
Got an army of troubles coming at you and your family (a.k.a. queendom)? Take heart, make praise, “and you will succeed” (v. 20)!
Lord, give me courage with this army of trouble coming at me. Help me to praise You as I stand strong in my faith and watch Your victory! Amen!
