Release Your Burden

“I removed the burden from their shoulders; their hands were set free from the basket.”
Psalm 81:6 NIV

God reached down and saved the Israelite people from slavery in Egypt. He led them out of the land when the time was right. The exodus began with Him, through Moses, instructing the people in some strange ways. Following His directions, they smeared the blood of a Passover lamb around their door frames. They prepared unleavened bread. They walked right up to the edge of a raging sea and passed through on dry land. Then they looked back over their shoulders to see their pursuers swallowed up by that same great body of water.

Your God is a burden remover and He does not desire for you to remain enslaved to addiction or abuse. He wants to part the waters before you and provide safe passage. He may calm the storm and beckon you to walk on the water, or He may hold you close and calm you in spite of the storm that causes destruction all around you.

If you are downcast, look up today! Find God there, ready to call you His child, ready to loose the chains of that which binds you. Find Him faithful. Release your burden to the One who has the power to cast it out of your life.

Burden-removing Father, free me from that which plagues me today. In Jesus’ name I ask, amen.
