In the day of my trouble I will call upon You, for You will answer me.
Psalm 86:7 NKJV
Who do you call when you are in trouble? If your car breaks down, perhaps it’s roadside assistance, but if your air conditioner breaks, it may be your HVAC company. What about when real trouble strikes? Do you hit speed dial and talk for an hour to your sister or best friend? Is it a parent you call, or perhaps a mentor from church? None of these are bad phone calls to make in times of need, as long as you remember that first and foremost you are to take your troubles to God.
God is there for you night and day. His Word tells you He never sleeps. When you are depressed or lonely, He’s there. When you don’t know what to do, He’s there. There’s no trouble you could encounter that would cause God to turn His back on you. He’s ready and waiting for you, His daughter, to call out to Him.
Think about the best earthly father you know. Would that daddy desert his children in a time of need? Would he ever be too busy to come running? How much more does your heavenly Father long to attend to the needs of His own?
God, I know that You are always ready to help. May You be the first one I turn to with my troubles. Amen.
