Open Up

Who is the King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty; the Lord, invincible in battle. Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter.
Psalm 24:8–9 NLT

It’s so easy to get focused on the things of this world. But that’s how we get dragged away from Jesus, forgetting His saving grace, strength, love, and presence.

Today’s verses give us an Old Testament picture of the ark, which contained God’s glory, being brought into the temple. These same verses can apply to us today if we consider how much Jesus longs to be in our hearts, His temple on earth.

Jesus pleads: “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends” (Revelation 3:20 NLT).

Jesus is outside the gate of your heart, waiting for you to open up your total being—mind, emotions, and will—to His saving presence. He, strong and mighty, invincible, is knocking at the door of your heart. He wants you, His temple, to open up your gates so He can spend time with you. Do you hear His knock? Are you willing to let Him into not just a small corner of your life but your entire life? He will not force His way in, for it must be your decision. He will be gentle and loving, only wanting the best for you. Will you open up?

Jesus, my heart is open! Please come in! In Your sweet name I play, pray, live, love, and breathe now and evermore! Amen.
