King Solomon sent to Tyre and brought Huram. . . .Huram was filled with wisdom, with understanding and with knowledge to do all kinds of bronze work.
1 Kings 7:13–14 NIV
Imagine gazing up at the temple’s two towering bronze pillars, their capitals adorned with pomegranates, entwined chains, and lilies. Inside, the burnished bronze of the sea catches your eye; holding twelve thousand gallons of water, its delicate lily-shaped rim is ringed with cast gourds, its base twelve bulls. Huram’s wisdom in his handiwork and designs is evident, even down to the coal shovels!
Perhaps Huram’s gifts are daunting, but did you know you have been given creativity, too? Whether it’s fabric arts, visual arts, music, baking, gardening, dancing, running, writing, or something else, God loves it when you are creative—since you are made in His image, the Creator made you to be a maker! No matter the amount of your talent, He delights in your creativity.
Maybe creativity feels like a splurge to you or someone told you it’s not as important as other pursuits. But God intends for you to use and develop all His good gifts. Ask Him to give you courage to explore your creativity, to give you the wisdom and freedom to make as He does. Who knows what beautiful, truthful, excellent things He has in store for you to create?
Father, thank You for making me creative like You! Help me use my gifts well.
