Your road led through the sea, your pathway through the mighty waters—a pathway no one knew was there!
Psalm 77:19 NLT
You have read the story. The Israelites, fleeing bondage in Egypt, arrive at the edge of the Red Sea with the Egyptians on their heels. At just the right moment, God parts the sea and every last Israelite passes through to the other side! And in the next instant, their pursuers are caught up in the raging waters, horses and chariots along with them.
Great story. Nice tale of long ago. Awesome movie clip. But wait. This is more than a fantasy. It really happened! And the miraculous part is that God still makes paths for you today.
When you find yourself between a rock and a hard place, cry out to God. When circumstances lead you to a dead end, lift your eyes toward heaven. God is the “great I am,” meaning that He is what you need in each moment. At times of anxiety or fear, you need the Prince of Peace. Other times, when filled with gratitude, you sing praises to the King of Glory.
Then there are Red Sea moments. At such crossroads, rely on Yahweh, the Lord who provides unseen pathways, who makes a way where there seems to be no way (see Isaiah 43:16–20)!
God, remind me that You are truly a God of miracles. In my Red Sea moments, I trust You to make a way. Amen.
