Leadership

When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.”
John 13:12–14 NIV

Oh, how we love leading others. . .mostly. There are days when we, as women, lose our way. Sometimes, we push out ahead of others, insisting they should follow us. We look at the end goal, but we do not pay much attention to those we’re dragging along behind us. As a result, we don’t see how weary or beaten down they are. We simply want to accomplish what we set out to accomplish. . .at any cost. Today, take a close look at those who are following you. Make sure they’re in good shape, spiritually and emotionally. If they’re not, focus on their needs, their health, their desires, their good will. You will reach your goals that much sooner if everyone on the team is in tip-top shape!

I haven’t always been the best leader, Father. Sometimes I plow people down or try to get my way. Sometimes I scoot to the back, more willing to follow than lead. Thank You for the reminder that my leadership skills can be honed by You. Give me a servant’s heart so that I can lead as You do. Amen.
