Precious Time

Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
Psalm 90:12 NIV

Some days the clock seems to run on warp speed. We glance up and an hour’s gone by. Or two. Or three. But other days the hours tick by, seemingly endless. We wonder if the day will ever end. What we do with those hours really matters. While God calls us to rest, He’s not keen on wasted time. So we need to be good stewards (caregivers) of the twenty-four hours we’re given in a day. Rest, yes. Play, yes. But at the expense of worship or time with the one who creates our days? Absolutely not. Today, give some precious time to the Lord and then watch Him magnify the remainder of the day. You might just be surprised at how beautifully the hours pass.

Lord, I want to be a good steward of the time You’ve given me. I don’t want to race the clock and feel worn out, but I don’t want to waste time, either. Help me to find a balance, Father, so that I can be refreshed and effective. May all my hours be beautiful hours. Amen.
