Grief

“ ‘ He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
Revelation 21:4 NIV

How quick women are to skip past grief. The loss of a loved one, the loss of a relationship, or even the loss of a job. Women face these things far too often. And how do most respond? They stiffen the upper lip and plow forward, not always taking adequate time to truly mourn what they’ve lost.

One of the hidden dangers of neglecting grief (and yes, you can neglect it) is illness. When women don’t take the time to mourn their losses, the physical body pays a price. In fact, emotions pay a price, too. If you’re not careful, your body will wear down and your emotions crater. And, if you let things go too long, your spiritual life will weaken, too. Today, many will need to hear these words: there’s nothing wrong with grieving. God doesn’t want you to park there too long, but do take the time to mourn. Then, once you’re done, God will dry your eyes, lift your chin, and give you courage to face tomorrow.

I can’t tell You how much it lifts my heart to know that grieving won’t last forever, Father. Sometimes it feels like it will. Your reassurance gives me hope that tomorrow will be better. Thank You for that. Amen.
