You Don’t Have to Be Strong

Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
Psalm 73:25–26 NIV

Do you ever feel like you have a weak heart? Feel like you’re not strong? You crater at every little thing? Do you face life’s challenges with your emotions in turmoil instead of facing them head-on with courage and strength? If so, you’re not alone. Twenty-first-century women are told they can “be it all” and “do it all,” but it’s not true. God never meant for us to be strong every moment of our lives. If we were, we wouldn’t need Him.

Here’s the good news: You don’t have to be strong. In your weakness, God’s strength shines through. And His strength surpasses anything you could produce, even on your best day. It’s the same strength that spoke the heavens and the earth into existence. The same strength that parted the Red Sea. And it’s the same strength that made the journey up the hill to the cross.

So how do you tap in to that strength? There’s really only one way. Come into His presence. Spend some quiet time with Him. Acknowledge your weakness, then allow His strong arms to encompass you. There’s really nothing else in heaven or on earth to compare. God is all you will ever need.

Father, I feel so weak at times. It’s hard just to put one foot in front of the other. But I know You are my strength. Invigorate me with that strength today, Lord.
