I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.
1 Timothy 2:1 NLT
Does God ever bring someone to mind and you feel the immediate need to contact or pray for that person? Maybe it’s someone you haven’t seen or thought of in years. When this happens, it’s important to pray for that person. We know that prayer is a great mystery, but God tells us that our prayers are powerful and effective. Our prayers really do make a difference!
We are told many times throughout God’s Word that there is a spiritual realm we cannot see (check out Ephesians 6). There is a battle going on all around us that we often forget. Good versus Evil is playing out in our lives and the lives of those we love in every moment. C. S. Lewis said that “There is no neutral ground in the universe. Every square inch, every split second is claimed by God, and counterclaimed by Satan.”
It’s time to claim the ground around our friends and loved ones. When God brings someone to mind, pray! You have no idea what battle they are facing, but you can be sure they are facing one whether they know it or not. Your job is to battle against the enemy in the name of Jesus. Take up the full armor of God (see Ephesians 6:10–18) and pray that same protection over your loved one. Ask God to help them and then give thanks for them!
Thank You God for bringing ________ to mind. Surround him/her with Your love and protection. Amen.
