When All Seems Lost

O God, You are my God, earnestly will I seek You; my inner self thirsts for You, my flesh longs and is faint for You, in a dry and weary land where no water is.
Psalm 63:1 AMPC

Absalom, King David’s son, was attempting to overthrow his father. So David fled his palace, his comforts, his people. Cursed, then pelted with stones and dirt, this weary and beleaguered king wrote Psalm 63 in the wilderness of Judah.

There David remembered God’s power and glory. He recalled His loving-kindness, knowing that is more precious than life itself. And in spite of all that was happening in his life, David told God, “So will I bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name” (v. 4 AMPC).

Even though David was on the run once again, even though he was out of his comfort zone, he hadn’t forgotten the most important thing: his love, worship, and pursuit of God.

When all seems lost in your life, when those who once loved you now curse you, when you are relegated to a barren wasteland, remember Psalm 63. Know that the most important thing you have—faith in God—is there for you to cling to and rejoice in. He is all the comfort you need, no matter where you are.

You, Lord, are my all in all and You alone are my comfort zone. You are all I need.
