Time and Energy

He sent two of his helpers, Timothy and Erastus, to Macedonia, while he stayed in the province of Asia a little longer.
Acts 19:22 NIV

The apostle Paul was an amazing leader. Yet he knew he couldn’t be all things to all people. He was limited by time and space, just as you are. So he sometimes sent helpers instead of always making a trip himself.

Are you, like many women today, so busy trying to do everything yourself that you cannot do any one thing well? If so, ask God for wisdom in learning how to manage your time and energy. When you are with your family, be fully present. Give your fam face-to-face time by turning off all electronic communication devices. When you are working, focus on each task and complete it for the glory of God, whether you are sending emails or folding laundry.

Consider assigning chores to your children rather than doing them yourself. This not only helps lighten your load but prepares them for life as adults. Don’t deprive them of this training just because they may whine a bit or may not do a task exactly as you would have done it.

Rest when needed. When you return to the tasks at hand, you will be refreshed and ready, at ease and focused, leading to a job for the Lord well done.

Father, I know I cannot be all things to all people at all times. Help me be wise with my time and energy. Amen.
