Do you find yourself in the desert? Is life dry and boring? Are you parched from the sameness of it all? Look up! God is more than able to bring you out of that place. He can turn your desert into pools of water and bring new life to the lifeless.
Have you considered your gifts? What abilities or talents has God given you? Are you using them? Often when one becomes too self-focused or is not using her gifts, life becomes stagnant.
Maybe you are good with your hands. Could you volunteer with a local group that constructs homes for the poor? Or help with crafts in a kids’ Sunday school class? Do you have musical ability? Nursing homes are always looking for someone to come and play an instrument or lead music for the residents. Or maybe your church’s worship team needs help. These are just a couple of ideas. Get creative! Find a way to use a gift God has given you today.
When you are busy about God’s work, you won’t have as much time to feel bored with life. You will find that He can bring joy to replace sorrow, and a feeling of value that trumps that desert place every time!
God, lead me today as I consider ways to use the gifts and abilities You have bestowed on me. Amen.
