The Holy Spirit’s Prompting

Mortals make elaborate plans, but God has the last word. . . .When God approves of your life, even your enemies will end up shaking your hand. . . .We plan the way we want to live, but only God makes us able to live it.
Proverbs 16:1, 7, 9 MSG

God had a plan for Ezekiel’s life. He called him to be a prophet to the people of Israel—a rebellious and stubborn nation. God wanted to use him to speak truth into their lives and to get them to live a reverent, obedient life. Ezekiel was called by God to be a watchman—an early warning system for the Israelites. God gave him the words to speak, cautioning Ezekiel that his words may be accepted or rejected by others.

Why did God send Ezekiel? Because the Israelites were trying to make their own plans, live their own lives, apart from God. And there were consequences for not trusting Him. However, God loved His people enough to send Ezekiel to pull them back from their wandering ways.

Who has God placed into your life to speak truth to you? Perhaps a warning from the word has touched your spirit. Maybe it’s a message you heard in the car while driving. Lean into the Holy Spirit’s prompting. Whatever you’re being nudged to do, to change, to live out, do it.

Lord, I don’t want to wander from You. May You have the last word in my life.
