So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.
Hebrews 6:18-19 NLT
God guarantees His promises. Such assurance that God—who cannot lie—will do what He says, gives us never-ending hope—no matter what things may look like to the contrary. As a believer in Jesus, you are a co-heir to all of the promises (see Romans 8:17) God has made in His Word, through His prophets, and through Christ.
Thousands of years ago, God promised Abraham he would have a son. Although it took years for Abraham to see that promise be fulfilled, it did come to pass. Imagine the faith, patience, and trust Abraham needed to wait on God. But he had confidence that God would make good on His word. And in God’s grace and mercy, He did.
You too can count on the promises of God. As you do so, remember the patience of Abraham while riding out the storms with Jesus, your trustworthy anchor.
Abba Father, I praise You for the many times You have been true to Your promises. Help me, amid my present storms, to remain anchored in Jesus.
