I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
1 Corinthians 3:6 KJV
Sometimes, as women, we work until we’re ready to drop and it seems as though it doesn’t make a difference. We teach classes, sing on the praise team, and attend prayer services, but we don’t see any results for all our hard work. We attend the women’s group, visit the sick, and cook for all the church functions, but no one seems to notice how hard we work.
The problem is expecting something to happen immediately when the final result is in God’s hands. We don’t have the ability or power to save anyone or change lives. Relax. You’re in good company. Paul said he had planted. He meant that he had done his part by planting the seed of the Gospel in people’s hearts. Then Apollos came behind him preaching and teaching, watering the seed that Paul had planted. From that point on, they had to wait for God to do His part. He is the only one who can cause those seeds to take root and grow. Too often we try to do God’s work for Him. We want to see results right away, but it could be months or even years before we see the result of the seed we’ve helped to plant. Our job is to continue planting or watering whether we see any results or not and allow God to bring forth the harvest.
Father, help me to do the work You’ve given me to do and to leave the results in Your hands. Amen.
