Supernatural Senses

Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
1 Peter 1:8–9 NIV

Describing God using your five senses is impossible. You cannot see, hear, or touch Him. Only by faith do you develop the supernatural senses to see Him, hear His voice, and hold Him tight.

Centuries before Peter wrote his letter, God gave Isaiah a bleak commission regarding the Israelites: “Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes” (Isaiah 6:10). Perhaps God cut off their understanding so they could develop faith to see the unseen.

Today you live in between the seen and the unseen. A few hundred believers knew Jesus in the flesh. The day is coming when you will see Jesus as He is (see 1 John 3:2). But although today you can’t see Jesus with your physical eyes, you offer the certainty of your faith. You love Jesus because He first loved you and died for you.

You believe and accept the rich gifts He showers on you, including your salvation.

By faith you see the joy beyond.

You don’t trust because you know. You know because you trust.

Invisible God, thank You for opening my eyes of faith and enfolding me in Your loving embrace.
