But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
1 Corinthians 12:18 KJV
I’m not sure I fit in here. Everyone seems to have a place except me.
Have you ever had similar thoughts, feeling like you don’t belong or feeling unimportant because you don’t have a position? Don’t allow that old lie from Satan to bring you down or discourage you. God has a place for everyone, and He has a place for you.
At a football game, the water boy hangs out at the sideline with a bottle of water and a towel, and hands these to the players when they need them. His job may seem insignificant, but without water during the game, a football player would not receive the cooling drink he needs to stay refreshed and hydrated. The water boy is part of the team even though he isn’t on the field or prominent in the public eye.
When we accept Christ, we become a part of His Body. We are placed by Him into the position that pleases Him. It may not be a job where we get attention. We may be the one cleaning up the kitchen after a church dinner or addressing get-well cards to sick members. Whatever the task, it’s important to the body of Christ. When everyone does their part, the church functions according to God’s plan. Just knowing God has placed us where it pleases Him should be all the thanks we need.
Father, help me to find the spot where You have placed me, and help me to serve there willingly. Amen.
