I will wait for the Lord. . . . I will put my trust in him.

Modern humans aren’t good at waiting. In our fast-paced society, if you can’t keep up, you’d better get out of the way. We have fast food, speed dialing, and jam-packed schedules that are impossible to keep. Instant gratification is the name of the game—and that attitude can creep into our lives as Christians.
The Lord Jesus Christ doesn’t care about instant gratification. Our right-now attitudes don’t move Him. Maybe He finds the saying, “Give me patience, Lord, right now,” humorous—but He rarely answers that particular prayer.
Do we want joy without accepting heartache? Peace without living through the stress? Patience without facing demands? God sees things differently. He’s giving us the opportunity to learn through these delays, irritations, and struggles. What a wise God He is!
Like Isaiah, we need to learn the art of waiting on God. He will come through every time—but in His time, not ours. The wait may be hours or days, or it could be years. But God is always faithful to provide for us. It is when we learn to wait on Him that we will find joy, peace, and patience through the struggle.
Father, You know what I need, so I will wait. Help me be patient, knowing that You control my situation and that all good things come in Your time.
