Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
1 Peter 5:7 NLT
A lot of people today say they pray, especially when someone is sick or there has been some kind of tragedy, but prayer is more than a good luck wish or an emergency contact number. Prayer is the channel through which we interact with our heavenly Father; it is the way we process the events and emotions of our lives and how we can see His will come to pass in our families.
Prayer is your lifeline. It is the vital connection that keeps you in touch with the Father. Imagine being disconnected from your devices all day, every day, for a week. At the end of that time, you would feel uninformed and shut out, cut off from the people who are most important to you. Perhaps God feels a little bit like that when we keep the channel of prayer closed on an ongoing basis. For, at its simplest, prayer is talking to Him. And when we don’t talk to Him, we shut Him out of the details of our lives. Of course, being omniscient, He is aware of what is going on anyway, but He wants us to invite Him in, to want to share our days with Him.
Have you prayed today? Don’t see it as an obligation or a guilt inducer but as a chance to communicate with the one who loves you more than anyone else and who can do more about your situation than anyone else.
Lord, thank You for being interested in everything that concerns me today. Amen.
