Get Up and Try Again

But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
1 Peter 5:10 NKJV

Have you ever fallen down in your Christian walk? It doesn’t mean you are no longer a Christian, but you stumbled over something in your path that caused you to lose your footing. Perhaps you didn’t see the obstacle in time. It’s painful to fall, and sometimes it’s hard to get up and continue on. While you’re lying on the ground spiritually, Satan uses this opportunity to taunt you and accuse you. “You’re not really a Christian. If you were, you wouldn’t have fallen. You wouldn’t have made a mistake. God doesn’t need people like you. He’s tired of fooling with you. Why don’t you just give up?”

Sound familiar? Not only does it sound familiar, but if you’re not careful, you will begin to believe it. The shame and remorse you feel because of your shortcomings only add to the lie Satan has just whispered in your ear. Don’t listen to any more of his lies. God is a God of grace. The key is to get up and try again. Stand up from the place where you have fallen and allow God to restore you, strengthen you, and establish you. He is faithful to His people.

Lord, forgive my shortcomings and extend grace once more to Your servant. Give me strength to continue the race.
