Anger

Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.
Proverbs 14:29 NIV

Cool down, sister! How many times have you wanted to use those words? Women can get so emotionally invested in a situation—or a conversation—that tempers flare without warning. And when an emotionally charged gal gets going. . .watch out!

If you’ve ever opened a can of biscuits and watched how they exploded out of the container, then you know the potential for pent-up anger. Things can blow up in a hurry. And as a result, there’s often a mess after the fact that someone (likely you) will need to clean up. There’s a reason people take deep breaths and count to ten when they’re worked up. Those few seconds give you time to refocus your heart and to remind yourself that it’s not worth it. But don’t worry! If you do blow up, the Lord has a way of reminding you of that, all the same. How much better would it be to “temper” yourself ahead of time? What chaos you could avoid!

I’ll admit it, Lord. . .I’m not always the first to control my temper. Sometimes, when I least expect it, I blow a fuse. Thank You for tempering me, Father, so that I can keep my cool, no matter what I’m facing. Amen.
