Whatever It is, Do It for the Lord

So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.
1 Corinthians 15:58 NLT

Have you ever stopped to count how many menial tasks you do each day? Laundry, dishes, bill payments, errands, meal preparation, grocery shopping. . .whether you work inside or outside the home, you work hard. But is this work really important?

It would be different if we were on the mission field, preaching the Good News to those who haven’t heard it yet, or tutoring needy children, or teaching God’s Word to our peers. But dishes? Laundry? Grocery shopping? It’s tempting—especially when we’re tired—to think of those things as useless. But God’s Word tells us to be strong and immovable, working enthusiastically for the Lord. Even when our work doesn’t seem important, it is never useless when we are doing it for Him. Colossians 3:17 says that whatever it is, do it for the Lord.

Father, help me to stop distinguishing between important and unimportant work. Regardless of what I do, help me to do it for You. Amen.
