Trustworthy

The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph’s care, because the Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.
Genesis 39:23 NIV

Trustworthy employees are valuable. It’s not easy to find people who will work hard on their own with little supervision. It’s not easy to find people who will stay true to their word.

And who would think that a young man, betrayed and sold into slavery by his own family, would grow to become such a valuable worker? But through all his trials, Joseph held on to the truth, and he held on to God. Over and over, scripture tells us that the Lord was with Joseph, and because of that, everything Joseph touched turned into a success. Joseph trusted God, and God made Joseph trustworthy.

Even while he was in prison, charged with betraying his master, Joseph’s character shone through so brightly that the prison warden gave Joseph the responsibility of managing the other prisoners. And there in prison God gave Joseph success. The prison was managed well, and the prisoners lived at peace with one another. At each step of his journey, Joseph brought glory to the name of the Lord by being a reliable servant.

Whether you serve in a prison or a palace, honor God by being honorable. Trust God and be trustworthy. And watch what God has in store for you next.

Lord, help me be a trustworthy person, no matter what my circumstances are. Amen.
