As for me, I look to the Lord for help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me.
Micah 7:7 NLT
Krista’s heart hurt. Her mother had passed, seemingly healthy one day and gone the next. Krista’s hopes and dreams of finally spending time with her parents after living out-of-state for so long were washed away by grief. She had dreamed of chilly winter mornings, sitting on the front porch, drinking coffee with her mother.
But now it all seemed far away. Krista had suffered a shipwreck in her heart and she was sinking. She poured herself a cup of coffee and walked out onto the front porch. She fell softly into the porch swing, wrapped herself in a thick blanket, and closed her eyes.
Suddenly, God was there. His presence was gentle but strong, and her heart was calm. She sat there with Him, just soaking in His comfort and love.
Life is often full of powerful storms that try to wash you into the angry sea. God is the only one who can calm the raging winds. When the storms of life try to carry you into the deep sea, trust God to wrap you in His unconditional love and bring you safely back into His peace.
Heavenly Father, when my heart is breaking in the middle of an outrageous storm, I trust You to calm the sea and settle my heart in peace.
