Set Apart

“I will bring that group through the fire and make them pure. I will refine them like silver and purify them like gold. They will call on my name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘These are my people,’ and they will say, ‘The Lord is our God.’ ”
Zechariah 13:9 NLT

Throughout the history of humankind, it’s been countercultural to live for God. Many times the majority of God’s chosen, the Israelites, would walk away from God, but within that group of people there was always a remnant, a part of the whole, that remained faithful to Him.

Peter called this group “a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people” (1 Peter 2:9 KJV). You stand out because you’re not of this world. You were born here physically, but born again for eternal purposes. As a citizen of heaven, you live and breathe according to God’s principles and values. It’s what makes you stand out in a world that is so contrary to your life in Christ.

When you stand in opposition to what appears to be normal in this world, remember that you are set apart. Though your decision for Christ may mean trials at time, you have all you need to overcome any challenges—because the Lord is your God!

Lord, thank You that I’m not of this world. I’m a chosen race, set apart for Your glory and I’m an overcomer because all I do, I do in You.
