He Will Give You Calmness

A calm and undisturbed mind and heart are the life and health of the body. . . .Wisdom rests [silently] in the mind and heart of him who has understanding.
Proverbs 14:30, 33 AMPC

As Timothy’s mentor, it was important for Paul to be upfront about the dangers of the last days. In today’s reading, we read Paul’s perspective about what those days might look like. People will love only money and themselves, as well as be disobedient, mockers of God, cruel, prideful, and more.

Paul goes on to give to Timothy a charge that expresses Paul’s faith and trust in God: “You must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true. . . . You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3:14-15 NLT).

In today’s Old Testament reading, we learn that through it all, there’s hope for God’s people. Their redeemer is strong (see Jeremiah 50:34).

No matter what you might be walking through today, as you trust God, the Holy Spirit will give you calmness and an undisturbed mind. You’ll also receive the benefits of silent wisdom and understanding.

Lord, when I trust You, I receive divine peace. Please give me the strength and faith to continue to trust You and Your Word, no matter what’s happening in my life.
