He Commands You Not to Fear

“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10 NASB

Fear can seep into our lives so easily. We fear the unknowns of the future. We fear we didn’t handle a certain situation as well as we should have. We fear we are too inadequate, or too busy, or too unmotivated to handle the things being thrown at us in the present.

In this verse, God tells you not to fear. This isn’t just an idle, “don’t worry, you’ll be okay” kind of statement. In fact, He commands you not to fear. How can He be so confident that you are completely safe so that He can command you not to fear? Because He is with you. The God who created, sustains, and governs this entire world is with you. With that perspective, what is there to fear?

Stop looking anxiously around you at all the burdens, worries, and fears of your life. Instead, focus on your God. He promises to strengthen and help you. Nothing in this world is so overwhelming that you cannot overcome it with the almighty God’s strength. Even when you feel that you have fallen with no strength to get up, He promises to hold you up with His hand.

Lord, help me to fully understand that You are with me, strengthening me, helping me, and holding me in Your hands.
