“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.”
Isaiah 49:15–16 NIV
Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane. He knew He stood on the brink of the biggest battle of His earthly life. He craved companionship—support from His friends. When He asked His disciples, those closest to Him, to pray, He discovered them sleeping instead. Then in the night, Judas gave Him away with a kiss. His disciples abandoned Him, friends forgot Him, and Peter, the one who promised to have His back, denied even knowing Him.
As Jesus’ captors dragged Him away, He saw no supportive, familiar faces in the crowd. Isolated, He held tight to God. Even when the Father turned away, Jesus called to Him for assurance. Jesus gave up His life and died, fully committed to the Father’s plan. He faced death, burial, and resurrection—isolated but not alone. His faith remained unshaken because He knew God would never abandon Him.
No matter what circumstances you are facing today, God has not forgotten you. When you feel isolated, remember that you are never alone.
Heavenly Father, just as You were with Jesus, I know You are with me. When others forget me and fail to support me, I look to You. You are my strength. You are always with me.
