Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken.
Psalm 62:5–6 NLT
Your cell phone’s alarm clock goes off. You sit bolt upright in bed, yawn, stretch, check the messages on your cell phone, then put your feet on the floor. Your favorite radio station playing, you head into the shower. While dressing, then eating breakfast, you watch TV for the traffic and weather reports. Once in your car, you put in a CD and head to the office where more gadgets and even some real-live humanoids will proclaim their presence via your auditory senses.
Amid all this hubbub, how can you wait silently before the Lord? In fact, how can you even sit still for one minute?
It takes commitment to make sitting silently before the Lord a priority. But only when you do so will you be able to, at all other times, step into the fortress where you cannot be shaken.
Make it your mission to seek the Lord in silence. Expect Him to be there and refill and refuel you. Make your motto the words “I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him” (Psalm 62:1 NLT).
Lord, all I need can be found in You. So here I am, Lord, seeking Your presence, hoping in You alone, my Rock and my Refuge.
