Revival

“Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.”
Matthew 3:8 NIV

A. W. Tozer said, “Have you noticed how much praying for revival has been going on of late—and how little revival has resulted? I believe the problem is that we have been trying to substitute praying for obeying, and it simply will not work.”

Could it be that Jesus is waiting for His church to repent? To the Ephesian church He said, “Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first” (Revelation 2:5 NIV).

Why do we sit back in our comfortable darling sins and wonder why God hasn’t sent a fresh wind of His Spirit? Could it be that our desire for revival is only rhetoric? Do we really want to see the power of God moving among us?

William Gurnall said, “Holiness has a mighty influence upon others. When this appears with power in the lives of Christians, it works mightily upon the spirits of men; it stops the mouth of the ungodly.”

In a country where the majority is Christian, our light should be brighter than it is. Now is the time to wipe off the cobwebs of our stained-glass windows and let the light and beauty of Christ shine through.

Lord, my desire is to be a light in this dark world. Give me the strength to give up the sin in my life that I cling to, and repent. Amen.
