No More Sting

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
1 Corinthians 15:55 KJV

Two female golfers were driving from one hole to the next when a huge bumblebee flew into the cart, causing the passenger to panic. While attempting to avoid the bee, she overreacted, lost her balance, and fell out of the cart. Later she sheepishly remarked to friends, “I was frightened for nothing. That kind of bee doesn’t even sting!”

We have so many fears that names have been given to identify our phobias. Arachnophobia: the fear of spiders. Claustrophobia: the fear of being in closed spaces. Acrophobia: the fear of heights. What are you afraid of? Do we make situations even worse by overreacting? Perhaps our fears are unfounded in the first place.

We have a choice to make. We can either live life in fear or live life by faith. Fear and faith cannot coexist. Jesus Christ has conquered our greatest fear—death. He rose victorious and has given us eternal life through faith. Because we know that this is true, it enables us to courageously face our fears. There is no fear that cannot be conquered by faith. So, let’s not panic but trust the Lord instead. Let’s live by faith and experience the victory that has been given to us through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Lord, You alone know my fears. Help me to trust You more. May I walk in the victory that You have purchased for me. Amen.
