We know that God is good and that His mercy and love are never ending. Yet it can be difficult to tell Him all the missteps we have made, because when we confess, we must admit them to ourselves.
Fortunately, we have the book of Psalms to help us. These verses from Psalm 25 are a prime example of how we can use what others have written to help us approach God in prayer.
The psalmist, David, asked God to see beyond his sins, to be viewed by God in the light of His love. He reminded God and himself that He is good and right and would show David how to get back on track. Most of all, he asked God to forgive his many sins.
Today, ask the Spirit to help you use the Psalms to address God in prayer as you seek His forgiveness. Take note of what happens when you do.
Lord, “do not remember the rebellious sins of my youth. . . .” Help me to find the psalm prayer that fits me.
