You [ Judah] shall no more be termed Forsaken, nor shall your land be called Desolate any more. But you shall be called Hephzibah [My delight is in her], and your land be called Beulah [married]; for the Lord delights in you, and your land shall be married [owned and protected by the Lord].
Isaiah 62:4 AMPC
Your name at birth is the first gift from your parents and your first identity. But no matter how you have been labeled until now, your God has given you a new name.
The terms “Forsaken” and “Desolate” call forth images of a dry, deserted, barren land where nothing grows or flourishes. But “My Delight” is the new name God gives you. Captivated by you, He adores spending time with you. He awakens you with a brilliant sunrise and lulls you to sleep with a glowing moon and twinkling stars, heavenly displays that show how much pleasure He takes in you.
Let go of the other names you have accumulated: Too Heavy, Too Tall, Not Smart Enough, Not Pretty Enough, Too Much Trouble. You are enough. . .and not too much. God is not seeking perfection, beauty, or grace. He is seeking you. Bloom in the love of a Father who has renamed you His Delight.
Father God, thank You for delighting in me. Help me fully accept my new name and live as one accepted and adored by her Father. Amen.
