No one is able to come to Me unless the Father Who sent Me attracts and draws him and gives him the desire to come to Me.
John 6:44 AMP
In some of the psalms, the writers seem to shake their fists at God, shouting, “Where are You, Lord? Why are You so slow? Are You sleeping? Wake up and help me!”
Interestingly, the psalmists never doubted God’s existence, only His methods. They loved Him, they believed He would triumph over enemies, and they knew He was the One True God. But they had some strong opinions about the way He went about His business. And they had no qualms about telling Him!
Fortunately for us human beings, God isn’t easily offended. He is deeply committed to holding up His end of our relationship, and He doesn’t want us to hide anything from Him. He already knows every thought we have, anyway, so why not talk to Him about those thoughts?
Every concern we have, every little thing that’s good, bad, or ugly.
Our Father always wants to talk. In fact, the very impulse to pray originates in God. In his book The Pursuit of God, author A. W. Tozer wrote, “We pursue God because, and only because, He has first put an urge within us that spurs us to the pursuit.”
So, talk!
Lord God, it boggles my mind that You want to hear from me! And often! Your Word says that I can call out Your name with confidence. That You will answer me! Today, Lord, I give You praise, honor, and glory—and my heart’s deepest longings.
