His Promptings

Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. . . .And prompted by the [Holy] Spirit, he came into the temple [enclosure].
Luke 2:25, 27 AMPC

The Holy Spirit had shown Simeon, a good and devout man, that he would see his people’s Messiah before he died. Then one day, a day that had seemed like any other, Simeon followed the prompting of the Holy Spirit and went into the temple. There he saw Mary and Joseph bringing in Jesus.

Imagine if Simeon had not followed the nudge of the Holy Spirit to enter the temple at the exact time of Jesus’ arrival. Simeon would have missed what he had been waiting for his entire life: the hope and salvation of his people.

When you are close to God, you, too, are in tune with the Holy Spirit. You, too, can feel His nudges and promptings. You, too, can hear His leadings.

Take some time today to draw close to God. “Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near” (Isaiah 55:6–7 NKJV). Be open to His Spirit’s leadings. Follow His promptings. If you don’t, you will always be wondering what God had no intention of your missing.

Lord, keep me open to Your Spirit’s nudges. I don’t want to miss anything You may have in store for me. I want to see Jesus and His power in my life! In His name I pray, amen.
