Listen and Obey

Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.”
Matthew 16:17 NIV

Do you ever just have a sort of knowing in your heart about something? Perhaps there have been times in your life when you have had a prompting to do something, like go a different route to work, and after you did so, you discovered you’d avoided an accident. Or you were prompted to call someone immediately, only to find out she needed your prayers or encouragement at that moment.

Or sometimes the Lord may give you an idea or a question to ask one of your children, and you end up learning about something that’s going on in their lives or the occasion becomes an opportunity to instruct or teach them—or yourself. Other times, it’s a knowing in your heart that, when you follow it, keeps you from danger or positions you for promotion.

God often gives you insight and revelation to walk out your journey with Him. He is there, ready to show you the path to take, the word to say, or the move to make. His job is to speak into your life. Your job is to listen and obey.

Heavenly Father, I want to hear Your voice. I will listen quietly to what You are revealing to me today. Give me insight into Your plan and help me follow Your instructions.
