When Anxiety Begins

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6–7 NIV

Anxiety is a fierce opponent with which you may often wrestle, and sometimes you may find that it has pinned you to the mat. To loose yourself from anxiety’s hold—or avoid the battle all together—you need the Holy Coach’s help. That means, in every situation, you are to go to God in prayer, tell Him what’s happening and what you need, then thank Him for what He has done, is doing, and will do.

Once you enlist His aid and leave the results in His hands, God will send an unfathomable peace to stand guard over your mind where your thoughts originate and over your heart where your emotions live.

So when anxiety begins to push at your thoughts, when a problem is on the horizon, immediately run to God, then pray, petition, and thank. The situation may not be resolved as you had imagined, but you will know you received the result God was looking for—and be left with God’s shield of peace, a transcendent gift beyond all understanding.

God, thank You for providing peace today right when and where I need it. I trust You to reign in every detail. Amen.
