And the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master, the Egyptian. And his master saw that the Lord was with him.
Genesis 39:2–3 KJV
Joseph had been sold to some traveling merchants by his brothers. The travelers carried him to Egypt, where he was sold once again to Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh. Joseph could have sat down in a corner and felt sorry for himself. He could have said, “I’m in a foreign country where no one knows me. I don’t worship like these people. I can’t live for God here.” But Joseph didn’t do any of those things. He proved himself a trustworthy servant, and his master took note of it, making Joseph his overseer. It made no difference that he had been brought to a different place; God was with him.
You may be living in a home or working at a job where you are the only Christian, but no matter where you are, God is able to bless you and direct your life if you allow Him to. No matter what environment you find yourself in, God will be there. Your situation may be painful, you may be fearful, the people around you may abuse you in some way, but like Joseph, God will be with you. Trust Him to take care of you.
Lord, help me to trust You in my situation. Give me the strength to live a life pleasing to You so those around me will take note that You are with me. Amen.
