Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to all of you who are in Christ.
1 Peter 5:14 NIV
Our capacity for love is unlimited. If we ever wonder how much love one person can shower on others, we need only to consider the love between a parent and a child. There is scientific evidence that when a baby is born a hormonal process occurs for both parents that ensures parental love for the new life. If it were truly just a matter of some unseen chemical that causes parents to offer unconditional-love-for-life, how then can we experience that same type of love for an adopted child or a grandchild? How does it happen that we have dear friends we love even though we don’t always “like” them?
How? Love is a choice. We choose to give and receive love. As Christians, we must heed God’s command to love one another. In 1 Peter we read that we are to greet one another with love.
As when you were a child and shared valentines with your friends, think today of those you love as God loves you. Reach out and show them your love. It can be as simple as a call, text, or email saying, “I love you.” Today is a good day to ensure that your loved ones know that you love them, unconditionally.
Lord, thank You for all those You have given me to love. Help me to show Your love as You have commanded. Amen.
