Keep Going

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Galatians 6:9 NIV

How often do we become impatient and give up? We stand in line at the coffee shop and find ourselves behind an indecisive person. Frustrated, we give up—but before we get to our car, that person—coffee cup in hand—walks past. If we’d only waited another minute, we, too, could be sipping a steaming caramel latte.

Or maybe we have a dream that we can’t seem to make a reality—and rather than trying “just one more time,” we give up. A piece of who we are drifts away like a leaf on the sea.

The Word of God encourages us to keep going, to press on, to fight off weariness and never give up. Jesus Christ has a harvest for each of us, and He eagerly anticipates blessing us with it—but we have to trust Him and refuse to give in to weariness.

We can only imagine what that harvest might be, because we know that God is the God of “immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine” (Ephesians 3:20 NIV). We can be recipients of His “immeasurably more” if we press on in the strength He provides.

When you’re tired, keep going—and remember that, in His perfect timing, you will reap an unimaginable harvest.

Father, You know that I’m tired and weary in this uphill struggle. Fill me with Your strength so I can carry on. I long to reap the harvest You have for me.
