God Will Give You Wisdom

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
James 1:5–6 NIV

James’s words on wisdom remind one of the ads that say, “Got milk?” God gives wisdom generously to all who ask. It leaves its stamp on you as clearly as a milk mustache.

God will give you wisdom without hesitation. The gift is yours without conditions. Only one thing can ruin it: doubt.

Doubt expresses itself by making God’s wisdom one of multiple options. You must ask for wisdom with the intention of following it. If you choose a different path, your life will twist and shift about, plunging from wave to trough like a boat in a hurricane.

How do you distinguish God’s wisdom from other sources? How do you recognize His voice? Practice. Use the helpful advice your mother taught you when you crossed the street: “Stop, look, and listen.” Take one small step, stop, look, and wait for God to speak again.

When you reach a fork in your life’s road, tune into God’s GPS—He will always take you by the best route.

Wonderful Counselor, I need Your wisdom today. Remove my doubts and open my eyes to Your direction. In Jesus name, amen.
