Does a young woman forget her jewelry, a bride her wedding ornaments? Yet my people have forgotten me, days without number.
Jeremiah 2:32 NIV
Have you forgotten something recently that you later felt lost without?
Forgetting a cell phone is highly inconvenient, as is leaving home without sunglasses, keys, or a wallet. How about forgetting a carefully planned shopping list when you are in a time crunch?
Have you ever forgotten to spend time with God in His Word? When you do so, you miss out on the joy and peace that comes from God, causing your soul to begin to feel dry and lonely.
Each morning God is smiling when you open your eyes. He wants to talk with you. Time in His Word is like sitting down to coffee with the best of friends. He meets you there and prepares you for your day.
When it’s time to get dressed, remember to slow down long enough to add your most valuable accessory: a spirit warmed and refreshed by the Spirit of God. Just as a woman remembers to put on earrings or a necklace, take a mental and spiritual moment to clothe yourself with the truth of God. And just as a bride places a veil on her head, pause and adjust your thoughts to remember God in His greatness and generous love.
God, I love that You want to spend time with me! Help me forget You not. Amen.
