“Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work,vand walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering.”
Romans 12:1 MSG
Wake up. Turn off your alarm. Get up and get dressed and then get moving. Pour the cereal and brew the coffee. Brush your teeth. Grab your keys and go.
Doesn’t seem like much, does it? Just a regular person going to a regular job on a regular day. But God wants all of it. He wants your mundane minutes and your sacred seconds and everything in between. Why? Because that is one of the best ways you can worship Him—by giving over body, mind, and soul as an act of living, breathing sacrifice.
But there’s another reason, too. If you are giving every moment to Him, then it will be easier for you to stay set apart from this world—and “be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2 NIV). Instead of just following the same old routine that everyone else does, if you actually actively gave over your schedule to God, praying through your day and committing to honor Him in your actions, how do you think that might change you? What might happen to your day if you offered every piece of it to God?
Lord, take my body and my time—I offer them to You. Please show me Your will, and I will serve You all my days. Amen.
